Morphéis is a complete anchor drag prevention system designed to give sailors clear, reliable confirmation that their anchor is holding, day and night, in all conditions and anywhere in the world.

At its core, Morphéis combines a mechanical anchor buoy, an independent electronic enclosure, and a portable onboard receiver. The mechanical buoy functions like a traditional orin: it remains vertically aligned above the anchor via an automatically tensioned line and can be used to manually recover a stuck anchor. Because this buoy contains no electronics, it can be stored permanently in the anchor locker without concern for moisture, corrosion, or seasonal maintenance.

Mounted to the buoy is a dedicated electronic enclosure that houses Morphéis’ ultra-precise GPS anchor drag detection system. This GPS continuously monitors the anchor’s position and detects movement beyond a defined tolerance of four metres. If the anchor shifts, the system immediately triggers an alert. Integrated automatic lighting ensures the anchor’s position remains clearly visible to nearby vessels at night, improving safety in crowded anchorages.

Communication between the buoy and the boat does not rely on mobile networks. Instead, Morphéis uses a direct radio link, similar in principle to marine VHF systems. This allows the system to operate reliably offshore, in remote locations, and in areas with no mobile coverage. In other words, Morphéis works everywhere you can anchor.

Onboard, a compact receiver provides real-time feedback and alerts. A simple LED status system shows anchor state at a glance: blue during anchoring, green once the anchor is securely set, and red if drag is detected. In the event of a drag alert, the receiver sounds a high-volume alarm and can send an SMS notification, depending on the SIM card chosen by the user. The receiver is fully portable and requires no fixed installation, making it suitable for use on deck, at the chart table, or beside your berth.

Morphéis is assembled in France using components from trusted suppliers. Each unit is individually tested before shipment to ensure accuracy and reliability. The buoy itself is manufactured using reclaimed plastic from industrial offcuts, reducing waste and lowering the environmental impact of production.

Together, these elements make Morphéis a practical, installation-free solution for sailors who want dependable anchor monitoring without relying on apps, mobile networks, or complex onboard systems.

Backed by three years of algorithm refinement and real-world anchor-drag tests, it is the ultimate guardian of your anchorage that you can trust

Why it matters
Your anchor’s true position is measured – not assumed.

The Onboard Receiver

Real-time anchor status, visible on board – day and night.

What it does

The onboard receiver monitors your anchor position in real time and alerts you if your anchor moves. It displays live status information from the buoy and sends SMS alerts when intervention is needed.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who is Morphéis designed for?

Morpheis is built for anyone who anchors – from first-time cruisers to liveaboards who spend months offshore. Even the most experienced sailors admit that when weather turns or squalls roll in, nobody sleeps properly. Morpheis removes that uncertainty by giving you a precise, independent anchor watch that doesn’t rely on guesswork or boat movement.

Phone apps track your boat, not the anchor. They rely on mobile signal, battery life, and GPS that jumps around at night. This forces you to choose between nuisance alarms or late alarms. Morphéïs tracks the anchor itself, verifies movement intelligently, operates offline, and has been engineered to eliminate false alarms – something apps simply cannot do.
Chartplotters use the boat’s position and a user-set radius. If you set it small, you get constant false alarms; if you set it large, you receive warnings too late. Chartplotters also require your 12V system running all night and provide no remote alerts if you’re ashore. Morphéïs gives early, accurate warnings from the anchor’s actual position and works independently of boat power.
Yes – confidence does not eliminate physics. Good skippers know exactly how unpredictable dragging can be in crowded anchorages, katabatic winds, or squalls. Morphéïs is not a substitute for seamanship; it’s an additional layer of certainty that allows you to sleep, go ashore, or relax without constantly scanning bearings and neighbouring boats.
The buoy maintains 4-metre GPS accuracy directly above your anchor. With a maximum swing of around 3 metres even in 30 knots of wind, the system knows the anchor’s true location at all times. That level of stability is simply not achievable when tracking a boat with 40+ meters of chain out.
No. The system verifies movement over a 30–45 second window, rejecting wave-induced spikes and normal swing behaviour. During testing, Morphéïs recorded ZERO false alarms – an incredible improvement over app-based and chartplotter-based systems.
The buoy contains 16 high-intensity LEDs that automatically activate at dusk and turn off at dawn. They provide clear visibility of your anchor from up to 200 metres, helping both you and neighbouring vessels understand the swing circle after dark.
Morphéis operates indefinitely in typical Mediterranean conditions. If there is no sunlight at all, the internal battery will still run the buoy for up to 72 hours. If required, simply detach the enclosure using the magnetic mount and place it on the induction charger overnight.

No. There is no app at all for anchor monitoring. Everything you need is handled by the buoy and the dedicated onboard receiver. This avoids compatibility issues, battery drain, and reliance on 4G/5G connectivity.

Yes. Morphéis can send SMS alerts to one or two mobile numbers. You will be notified if the anchor drags, if the buoy or receiver battery becomes low, or if signal is temporarily lost or restored.

Setup takes under a minute:

Turn buoy on → Attach enclosure → Clip to chain → Drop anchor + buoy → Reverse to set → Turn receiver on → Tap “Start monitoring”.

The receiver turns green once monitoring begins. No calibration, menus, or guessing where your anchor is.

Yes. Morphéis is specifically engineered for tight anchorages where swing behaviour and close proximity make traditional radius-based alarms unreliable. Tracking the anchor itself avoids the guesswork associated with dense mooring fields.
Because the buoy contains the GPS module, any unexpected displacement is immediately detected and handled as a safety-critical change in behaviour. The system can alert you to signal loss, unexpected movement, or improper buoy orientation.
No. The line uses a stainless swivel snap hook that prevents twisting, and its high visibility and buoyancy help it remain clear of the chain. You also gain the benefit of a 750 kg working load trip line – invaluable if your anchor ever fouls.
Yes. The buoy’s shape and weighted keel minimise movement in all conditions. The GPS and movement-verification algorithms are designed to differentiate between anchor drag and normal storm-induced motion.
Dedicated hardware ensures:
  • A loud 100 dB alarm
  • Continuous offline operation
  • No battery dependency on a phone
  • No app complexity
  • Instant state visibility (blue/green/red)
Relying on consumer devices is inherently less reliable in marine environments.
The buoy is solar-powered and the receiver uses its own internal battery which can be charged when required, and unplugged for 48 hours. You do not need to run plotters, tablets, or navigation systems 24/7.

Absolutely. The system is intentionally simple.

Everything is automatic. Charter companies can rest easier knowing guests at anchor have a reliable, fool-proof safety layer.

The buoy triggers an alarm at the slightest movement, so you would be alerted if a thief tried to take it. In addition, each buoy is uniquely paired with its receiver, so a thief would not be able to use it.
